We boarded a small very colourful prop plane at Bangkok airport destined for Luang Prabang. After a lovely flight we descended through the mist and views of the Mekong river and Luang Prabang came into view. Last through passport control and our luggage didn't appear to be there, but as we rounded the corner there it was thank goodness and just outside a very smiley someone to meet us with Tuk Tuk. We'd arrived. Our hotel is very comfortable and serene with more staff than guests. Everyone smiles constantly with endless greetings of Sawadee which we are presuming means 'hello'. Luang Prabang is everything we'd hoped it would be from what we'd read. It's sits on the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khon rivers and the hustle and bustle of their river life is a joy to behold. The town itself has a busy but simple way of life. Mopeds, tuk tuks, bicycles and monks with umbrellas everywhere. Crossing the road is quite tricky but probably nothing compared to what it's going to be like when we get to Hanoi. We had a lovely massage at the end of the day and then out for our first taste of Laos food. We chose the 3 Nagas Restaurant which had been recommended. Just about managed to stay awake, then a leisurely stroll back through the fantastic night market back to our hotel. Bedtime!
